A Day of Mindfulness and Connection
This past Saturday, September 20th, over 20 members of our community gathered at the beautiful Edenvale Retreat Centre in Abbotsford for EmotionsBC’s second annual Mindfulness Retreat.
The day began with quiet arrivals, coffee, tea, and light refreshments before our facilitators, Brandi Matheson and Paul Matheson, guided us into a day of silence and mindfulness.
Throughout the retreat, participants were invited into a variety of mindfulness practices, including gentle movement, mindful walking, and self-compassion exercises. During the self-directed period, we offered some art activities, spaces to rest, and the opportunity to connect with the teachers in a supportive round discussion.
Lunch was provided by Valley Caterers and, once again, was a highlight of the day. The nourishing soups, wraps, and sweet treats made for a perfect midday pause before continuing our practice.
We closed the retreat in small groups, sharing reflections, gratitude, and connection. As always, the day was filled with moments of peace, curiosity, and compassion.
We are so grateful to everyone who joined us, to Brandi and Paul for leading us through such meaningful practices, and to the Edenvale team for providing such a beautiful space.
